Depo Provera
Depro Provera is a birth control injection that a woman get every 3 months. It consists of a synthetic form of the female hormone progesterone.
Progesterone causes several things to occur in the female reproductive system. It causes an arresting state in the ovaries so you do not release eggs every month. Consequently most women who use Depro Provera spotty periods or no periods at all. Depro Provera also thickens the cervical mucus, inhibiting sperm from reaching the uterus. Finally, it changes the lining of the uterus so no egg implantation is possible. Effectiveness is superior to the pill and the cost is approximately the same. Getting pregnant after discontinuing use should not be a problem. And some women even report a lessening of PMS and other related problems while taking this medication.
