External Structure of The Heart
The heart, which is slightly larger than a clenched fist, is a double, self-adjusting muscular pump. The two parts normally working in unison. It pumps blood through blood vessels to the various parts of the body.
The superior and inferior vena cava are veins carrying venous blood from the body and empty it to the right of atrium. The pulmonary trunk and arteries carry de-oxygenated blood from the right ventricle to the lungs. The Pulmonary veins carry oxygenated blood from the lungs back into the heart and into the left atrium. The aorta is the biggest artery in the body and carries the oxygenated blood to all tissue of the body. The coronary veins feed blood directly back into the right side of the heart to become oxygenated in the lungs. The right coronary artery branches and supplies the blood to the right side of the heart. The left coronary artery divides and supplies the blood to the left side of the heart.
