Nair, waxing or shaving are the three main hair removal options today, all of which have their drawbacks. Many complain that Nair is an odorous compound, and that it can damage the skin. Waxing can be very expensive and painful. Shaving is the most common option but hair grows back thicker and darker, and must be shaved at least once a week. Laser hair removal has proven to be a suitable option to these three methods. The process is accomplished through the use of high powered xenon-flash-lamps which are not technically lasers. These lamps target specific hair follicles and destroy them, not allowing hair to grow in the targeted region. Patients may require up to 8 treatments in order to permanently remove hair.
