Children of Smokers Are Less Healthy Than They Seem Stories

Children of Smokers Are Less Healthy Than They Seem

Children with smoking parents may not be as healthy as they appear.

A study presented at the American Thoracic Society International Conference shows that although children of smokers may not exhibit respiratory problems, they may still be suffering from damage to their airways. Some researchers claim that children of smokers are more likely to have respiratory problems such as puffing, wheezing, and cases of pneumonia. However it is unclear if there is impairment in children who have no respiratory complaints or diagnosed problems. (Read more about Children of Smokers Are Less Healthy Than They Seem)

Smoking Cut Back Stories

Smoking Cut Back

If you smoke or know someone who smokes, which is just about all of us, you know how difficult it is to quit smoking.
But what about cutting back, reducing the number of cigarettes one smokes each day as a first step towards quitting smoking? Does that lower your risk of getting lung cancer and other illnesses?
To use a sports analogy, there are those who would argue—and there’s a new study to back this up-- that trying to cut back instead of quitting smoking, is similar to hoping you only lose by one touchdown rather than 3. However some researchers maintain that the only real way to win over cigarettes would be to completely kick the habit. (Read more about Smoking Cut Back)
